Kate volunteers with the Red Cross Disaster Relief Team. We are very supportive of her commitment and grateful that people like her are working to improve conditions for people there and I know our thoughts are with her. To donate to victims of Hurricane Katrina please visit the American Red Cross at http://www.redcross.org/ 06-08-05 The Teen Court Bar Association held their quarterly volunteer appreciation event at the University of Arizona Challenge Course. Ten teens and two staff members were challenged to depend on others and believe in themselves during this team-building challenge. Since volunteers from both the Northwest Division and our Downtown Teen Court attended, the first part of the afternoon was spent getting to know one another. Then the group moved on to a “low-rope” element as a tight-rope was stretched between poles about a foot off the ground. The objective was to get everyone to the end without falling. Our persistent volunteers kept at it, and we learned that our staff member, Ernesto Lopez, has very good balance. The final challenge was to walk across a telephone pole 30 feet in the air.
